Monika Rubaniuk. Epidemia

1,00

The catalogue documenting the exhibition by Monika Rubaniuk which was presented at the SIC! Gallery. In this case the epidemic was the leitmotif. Rubaniuk’s glass sculptures – objects – are round, seemingly soft forms contrasted with the sharp edges of the glass, thus referring to the world of nature, especially to the microsphere of viruses and bacteria. Monika Rubaniuk has drawn inspiration from nature almost from the beginning of her work, presenting the phenomena related to it in a simplified, codified way. She often creates her works keeping the natural landscape in which they are situated in mind. Suspended from trees, laid in grass or partially stuck into the ground, they become a natural continuation of the surrounding world (Mulches, Cocoons, Rain Cloud, Icicles, Stones, Cabbage). That way they take on a different meaning, gaining biological connotations and becoming part of the space in which they function.
