Hybrid-in

Hybrid-in can be read as a visual antidote and response to environmental pollution and viruses. We caused the first, and we fall victim to the second. In the post-internet, post-production world, the phenomenon of hybridization is becoming more and more widespread. It enters political and social territory from the pioneering area of ​​hybrid materials, oxide-coated metal sheets, polystyrene and the like. Hybridization is used in all areas of our lives: from genetically modified wheat, through hybrid cars, hybrid communication, hybrid satellite receivers, hybrid wars, to hybrid identity. The process of constant hybridization continues, blurring the features of the present, its divisions and the distribution of status.

The objects collected at the exhibition followed the same path. Materials and found objects collided with knowledge derived from cultural contexts.

The catalog presents the art of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, as well as the photographic documentation of the exhibition, which, apart from the exhibition at the BWA Wrocław Główny gallery, was presented at partner institutions of this international project. Galeria výtvarného umění v Ostravě presented the Hybrid-in from June to August 2021, the BWA Wrocław Główny gallery from September to November 2021, and finally the Ján Koniarka gallery in Trnava from December 2021 to February 2022.
